Apostles Build projects are 12 churches coming together to raise the money for and provide the labor and prayer support to build a Habitat for Humanity house.

Forming coalitions of church partners is not a new idea, but the image of serving as the apostles of Jesus has served to excite many churches to become powerful partners in ministry. Working on an Apostles Build project allows people to be the body of Christ in the world.

Each of the 12 churches that share the costs and labor commitments are referred to as an “apostle church.” Sometimes, one or more of the apostles is comprised of more than one church. For example, one apostle partner may be made up of several churches of one denomination that choose to raise the money and work together as one group. A project team, which may include affiliate and church representatives, working in cooperation with the affiliate board of directors, makes preliminary decisions. In San Luis Obispo the cost to be an Apostle Church Faith is aproximately $9,000.

Two churches in our community have agree to be Apostle Churches, Old Mission and First Presbyterian San Luis Obispo. Morro Bay Presbyterian has also join us to help build on Faith!

Whether your church, temple, or congregation would like to be an Apostle, we would encourge you to pray for us and to consider taking a second collection on our behalf anytime it seems appropriate to your spirit of community.  We are fundraising year-round for our families in poverty seeking a better life.  Your support is crucial to our success.  Please put us in your prayers and let us know so that we may let our hard-working families know you care for them!

Faith Relations Community Meeting-Habitat for Humanity

Faith Relations Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at noon at rotating church/community locations. All churches are invited to join us and learn more about how we do our work.
