It's Hard Hat and Hammer Time with Habitat
Dig out that hard hat and dust off your hammer, Habitat is preparing to break ground at Rockview Place in San Luis Obispo November 1, 2012. We need you to get this project 'under construction.' With 90% of the funding in place, Habitat is putting faith in action and preparing for this three house build.
No family should have to choose between having a decent roof over their heads and putting food on the table. We all know, reality does not always respect what 'should be.' Make a donation now and let's get building!

The Art of Being Neighborly
When it comes to being a good neighbor, there are many profiles to describe that state of being. Are you a good neighbor? How do you know? What makes a good neighbor? Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County has put a lot of thought into this topic. The result is that a good neighbor adds to our experience as homeowners. A good neighbor will put your dog back into the fence, move your trash cans off the road when you are on vacation, keep an eye on your property if you are out of town on business and just generally cares for the general welfare of the community space you have all invested in and share by proximity.
As we prepare for fall and the coming holiday seasons, needs will skyrocket, patience may plummet and the unexpected will interject into our pathways! HFHSLOCO hopes you will take a moment to enjoy a gentle central coast breeze and remember that HOME is a word like neighbor that is hard to describe, different for each of us, but important to all.
Please remember us with a smile and if the spirit moves you, a gift. Your cash donation is a gift for those folks who are still striving for a home of their own and the chance to be a good neighbor.

Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County One Step Closer to Building Five New Homes
Paso Robles City Council and Redevelopment Agency Reserve Funds for Low-Income Housing
San Luis Obispo, CA, November 18, 2010—The Paso Robles City Council and the Redevelopment Agency voted Tuesday night to reserve funds which would enable Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County to build five new homes for very low-income families on Vine Street in Paso Robles. The City set aside $225,000 in CalHomes funds to purchase the property where the houses would be built. The Redevelopment Agency reserved an additional $270,000 in Redevelopment Low and Moderate Income Housing Funds which will be used to offset city fees associated with the project. Actual allocation of the funds is contingent upon Habitat’s acquisition of the funding necessary for construction of the homes.
Julia Ogden, Habitat’s Executive Director said, “We are very pleased that the Paso Robles City Council and the Redevelopment Agency have voted to support our effort to make homeownership a reality for five low-income families in San Luis Obispo County.”
Relying on the donation of money and materials, Habitat builds homes using volunteers who work side-by-side with the partner families who will purchase the completed homes. Houses are sold for no profit and are financed through affordable no-interest mortgages. Mortgage payments are used to help finance additional low-income homes in the county. |
