Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for SLO County

Construction:

We will have volunteer construction opportunities in late October, 2010! While you are waiting help us raise money and awareness.  Get your business excited about a Team Build, shop at ReStore for DIY projects, involve your church or place of inspiration, Hike for Habitat in September and recruit sponsors who care about affordable housing.  Help us build it!

ReStore Warehouse & Thrift Store:

  • ReStore North is located at 2959 Limestone in Paso Robles/Templeton area
  • ReStore South is located at 187 Tank Farm Rd in San Luis Obispo
  • Volunteers assist with the sale of donated materials and general operations of the ReStore.
  • Volunteers are needed Wed-Sat 9am-12 or 12-4pm

Committees:

 HFH-SLO has the following committees:

  • Public Relations - organize & carry out programs that raise public awareness of Habitat through speaking engagements, public service announcements & participation in community activities.
  • Fundraising - plan fundraising activities & events in accordance with budget needs and Board directions, work with the PR committee to publicize events, and carry out fundraising activities for the affiliate with support from the Board of Directors.
  • Finance - monitor the financial records of the affiliate including annual budget, monthly reports and other financials as needed.

  • Family Sponsors - welcome new families to the Habitat partnership, provide support as they take on the responsibilities of homeownership; serve as the primary liaison between the affiliate and the homeowner families.
  • Building - plan construction, arrange for permits, inspections, materials etc., recruit skilled volunteers, support from the construction industry, & donations of building materials.
  • Site Acquisition - target the areas in the community where Habitat can develop and work, solicit donations of property, identify and recommend property for acquisition to the Board.
  • Faith Relations - establish relationships with churches and institutions of faith in areas where Habitat is building, recruit sponsorships, volunteers, & funding support.
  • Family Selection - interview and work with families who have made application to be a Partner Family with Habitat.  Check applications for completeness at time of submission to secure best possible selections for home ownership. Participate in family selections upholding the mission and integrity of HFHSLOCO.
  • ReStore Operations - Assist the ReStore manager in the operations of the ReStore.
