Habitat Responds

Habitat in the World

We are all one...

Habitat for Humanity International has declared its intention to respond to the devastation in Japan and has posted a notice on Habitat.org.

At this time, we do not have information on the safety of our colleagues in the areas impacted by the earthquake or tsunami. We are in touch with all the relevant area offices as they reach out to the HFH organizations in the affected countries and will share the information with you as it becomes available.

Please keep Habitat’s staff, the people of Japan and all those in the path of the tsunami in your prayers.

Please continue to keep the people of Christchurch in your hearts.

On Feb. 22, a 6.3-magnitude quake struck Christchurch, New Zealand. Nearly 170 people have died and this number is expected to rise to 200. More than two weeks later, 118 people are still missing after buildings collapsed in the country's second-largest city on a busy weekday afternoon.

Habitat for Humanity New Zealand aims to provide a large volunteer force to assist in repairing damaged homes, or building new ones. It is expected that this work may not begin for several months, and the repair and rebuilding process might take several years to complete.

Habitat Mexico

On behalf of Habitat for Humanity Mexico, I would like to express my most sincere gratitude for all your donations duirng this year in spite of financial crisis.  Habitat for Humanity Mexico appreciates this effort bcause we know that this period has been full of harships but thanks both to God's mercy and your support of our mission, impossible achievements have taken place: We served 865 families from July 09 to September 09!

Your support has been catalytic in helping Habitat Mexico to encourage social responsibility among companies; promoting participation and active involvement of different sectors of our society, strengthening community development and, of course, helping Mexican families to get better housing conditions.

Grace and Peace,

Gustavo Gutierrez Lee, Habitat for Humanity Mexico
